James B. Montgomery NORTHPORT | James B. Montgomery, age 80 of Northport died December 19, 2016 at Heritage Health Care Center. Services will be held on Friday December 23, 2016 at Campground United Methodist Church at 12:00pm with Rev. George Jackson and Paul Wilson officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with Magnolia Chapel North directing. Visitation will be from 10:00am to 12:00pm at the church. He is preceded in death by his wife Bertha Montgomery and his parents, James B. and Nettie Lou Montgomery, Sr. Survivors include his two sons, Michael Steven Montgomery (Christi) and Mark Scott Montgomery (Melinda); his sister Jean Jacobs and brother; Wayne Jack Montgomery, six grandchildren and two great grandchildren. Mr. Montgomery was a dedicated military veteran, serving the United States Air Force for over 22 years and attaining the rank of Senior Master Sargent. He was on flying status and stationed at Andrews Airforce Base ; Washington DC for most of those years. Assigned to speckle trout he traveled all over the world with high ranking dignitaries, including the joint Chiefs of Staff and U.S. Presidents. After retiring from the Air Force he moved back to Alabama where he was employed by BF Goodrich and retired from there after 20 years. He was a loving father, grandfather and husband and will be greatly missed. Thank you to all family and friends that have helped Christi and I the past three years with his medical care. Pallbearers will be Shannon Christopher, Adam Montgomery, Tony Camp, Landon Camp and Jessie Davis. Honorary pallbearers will be Staff of Heritage Health Care Center Station 1, Staff of DCH Northport Hospital, Employees of BF Goodrich, Campground United Methodist Church, and Masonic Lodge of Oxford, Maryland.
