James (Jimmy) Marion Johnson, Sr. age 78, passed away peacefully to be with the Lord and his wife on December 9, 2020, at Druid City Hospital. He was preceded in death by his wife of 53 years, Toni Jo Johnson; parents, Ausborn Davis and Mary Alice Johnson; and brother, Don Johnson.
He was survived by his daughters Sherry Whitten (Thomas), Shannon Johnson, and Cindy (Keith) Pinion; his sons Bryan Johnson, and Jim Johnson; his grandchildren Tiffany Franklin (Ryan), Parker Whitten (Alyssa), Kolton Johnson, and Andrew Whitten; and his great-grandchildren Ella Franklin, and Rylan Franklin. He is also survived by his sister, Diane Palmer.
Jimmy was born in Brewton, Alabama. Jimmy served two years (1961-1963) in the United States Air Force as Airman Second Class and was stationed in France. He retired from BF Goodrich as an Area One Maintenance employee after 38 years of service. His favorite pastime was bass fishing. He participated in many tournaments over the years. He loved his four children and loved and adored his four grandchildren, spouses, and great-grandchildren Ella and Rylan. Most of all, he loved his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
Due to COVID restrictions, a graveside service for immediate family only will be held at 1:00 pm on Monday, December 14, 2020, at Arbor Springs Baptist Church Cemetery. Reverend Albert Lyles will be officiating. Magnolia Chapel North is directing.
The family would like to extend special thanks to all family and friends who have prayed and offered their love and support. They would also like to thank the ICU staff at Druid City Hospital for their outstanding care. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to honor his life and legacy at the James M. Johnson, Sr. Memorial Fund.
