James Thomas Lancaster NORTHPORT | James Thomas "Jimmy" Lancaster, age 86, of Northport, died September 9, 2015 at DCH Regional Medical Center. Services will be 11 a.m. Saturday, September 12, 2015 at Magnolia Chapel Funeral Home North with Rev. Alan Roggli and Rev. Ted Sessoms officiating. Burial will follow in Tuscaloosa Memorial Park. Visitation will be held at Magnolia Chapel Funeral Home North from 6-8 p.m. Friday, September 11, 2015. He was preceded in death by his wife of 58 years, Edna Lancaster; his parents; three sisters; and two brothers. Survivors include his children, Patsy Strickland (Keith) and James Thomas "Tommy" Lancaster Jr. (Melinda); along with his grandchildren, Ashley Bounds (David), Brittney Strickland, Maegan Lancaster and Sarah Jane Lancaster. He was born June 10, 1929 in the community of Coal Fire in Pickens County, Alabama. Jimmy was considered the "rock of his family,'' putting his family above everything else. He was willing to help others. He served his country in the Korean War where he received a Purple Heart for his service. He owned and operated Lancaster Electric for over 30 years. He was a faithful believer and attended Carroll's Creek and Arbor Springs Baptist Church. His grandchildren were his pride and joy, always there for every ballgame, graduation or hunting trip. Jimmy also had a sense of humor that could bring light to any situation, always teasing and joking with everyone around him. At the age of 86, he ran a farm by himself and took immense pride in his cattle. He loved with all he had, which was evident in his relationship with his wife, Edna. He cared for her always and gave unselfishly to her throughout their long marriage. Jimmy was a devoted husband, loving father, comical grandfather and well-loved friend. Jimmy will be truly missed by all the people whose lives he's touched. Pallbearers will be Tommy Lancaster, Jerry Lowery, Jimmy Lowery, Johnny Lowery, Mike O'Bryant, Roger O'Bryant and Keith Strickland. Honorary pallbearers are Dr. Wilhite, nursing staff of TSICU, members of Carroll's Creek Baptist Church, members of Arbor Springs Baptist Church, and many close friends and extended family. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Carroll's Creek Baptist Church and Arbor Springs Baptist Church.
