James Richard (Rick) Jordan, age 64 passed away Saturday, November 3, 2018 at Hospice of West Alabama. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, November 7, 2018 at 2 p.m. at Mt. Carmel Missionary Baptist Church, Oneonta, Alabama, with burial to follow at church cemetery. Visitation will be 12:30-2:00 p.m. at the church the day of the funeral. An additional visitation will be Tuesday, November 6, 2018 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Magnolia Chapel Funeral Home North, Northport, AL.
Rick was preceded in death by his parents Annie Ruth Nix Jordan and J.V. Jordan; and nephew Joseph (Joey) Epps.
He is survived by his wife Deborah Snead Jordan; son, Cason (Amanda) Jordan; granddaughter, Kayleigh Jordan; sister, Carolyn (Jerry) Epps; nephew, Jason (Melissa) Epps.
Rick was born and raised in Oneonta, Alabama. For 44 years he led a successful career in the commercial fire alarm business receiving numerous awards for outstanding performance from Simplex Time Recorder and Gamewell/FCI. In 2009 he was presented The Lifetime Achievement Award by the Bluetick Breeders of America for his support, dedication, and promotion to bluetick coonhounds. He was a member of Forest Lake Baptist church having served in numerous capacities. He was often heard to say he loved the Lord, his family, and a good blue dog.
Pallbearers will be Hugh Snead, Billy Hulgan, Jerry Epps, Jim Floyd, Matt Holden, and John Saylor.
Honorary pallbearers are Terry Tibbs, Clint Crawford, William Mills, Keith Pike, members of Forest Lake Baptist Church, employees of Caring Days, and employees of Hospice of West Alabama.
In lieu of flowers, please make contributions to Caring Days or Hospice of West Alabama.
Magnolia Chapel North will be directing services.
