James C. "JC" Hammonds TUSCALOOSA James C. "JC" Hammonds, age 91, of Tuscaloosa, died Nov. 28, 2012, at Hospice of West Alabama. Services will be 2 p.m. today at Magnolia Chapel Funeral Home South with Bro. Jimmy Garner and Bro. Kenneth Cheek officiating. Entombment will follow in the Chapel of Memories Mausoleum with Magnolia Chapel Funeral Home South directing. Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the funeral home. He was preceded in death by his wife, Aline Hammonds, and his daughter, Janice Collier. Survivors include his son, Harry Hammonds; his grandchildren, Harry Hammonds Jr. and Cole Collier (Lisa); his great-grandchild, Corey Collier; and his great-great-grandchild, Kyliegh. Mr. Hammonds was a World War II veteran who served in New Guinea. He loved his country, his friends and family, and Alabama football. Pallbearers will be Joe Freeman, Corey Collier, Larry Hammonds, Harry Hammonds, Harland Walker, and Billy Lester. Honorary pallbearers are Mary Hunter, Laura Taylor, Kay Stephens, VA Medical Center nurses and staff, Hospice of West Alabama, Alacare nurses and staff, and Coker Baptist Church. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Hospice of West Alabama.
