James Fleetwood Gregory, age 76, of Cottondale, died Sept. 23, 2011, at Hospice of West Alabama. Services will be 3 p.m. Monday at Magnolia Chapel Funeral Home North with Rev. Bill Richards, Rev. John Alexander, and Rev. Doug Reeves officiating. Burial will follow in New Hope Baptist Church Cemetery with Magnolia Chapel Funeral Home North directing. Visitation will be tonight from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home. He was preceded in death by his father, James A. Gregory, and his stepson, Don Herron. Survivors include his wife, Maggie Gregory of Cottondale; his daughters, Denise Davidson (Kenny) of Tuscaloosa, Delores Stripling (Calvin) of Coker, and Dianne Greer (Russ) of Lincolnton, N.C.; his stepdaughter, Peggy Malone of Vance; his sister, Dean McAteer (James) of Buhl; his brother, Marvin Gregory (Charlotte) of Northport; his mother, Vivian Lamb Gregory; 13 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. Mr. Gregory was born July 20, 1935, in Romulus, Ala. He was a member of New Hope Baptist Church. He owned Fisherman's Palace until he retired. Pallbearers will be Danny Davidson, Brian Nix, Daniel Anderson, Scott Gregory, Matthew Tierce, Matthew Renicks, Rodney McAteer, and Jeff Elmore. Honorary pallbearers are DCH MICU, Hospice of West Alabama, East McFarland Baptist Church, Englewood Baptist Church, New Hope Baptist Church, the Romulus and Buhl communities, and faithful friend Ricky Green.
