James Cicero

James Bradley Cicero (Brad), age 71 of Northport, passed from this life on Thursday, April 22, 2021 at home after a long battle with Parkinson’s Disease. Brad was born in Fairfield, Alabama on December 22, 1949. He graduated from Hueytown High School in 1968 and was drafted into the United States Army soon afterward. Brad served two years during the Vietnam War as a medic in a hospital in Bangkok, Thailand. Upon returning to the Birmingham area, he met and married Mary Tucker. Brad and Mary lived in Winfield, Alabama from 1973 until 1998 then built a home on Lake Tuscaloosa in Northport. Brad worked in Berry, Alabama for P & M Mining Company (Chevron) and retired in 2008 after 31 years with the company. Brad was a faithful Christian and a member of the Northwood Church of Christ. He served as an elder for eight years and was an encouragement and mentor to many students who attended Northwood during their college years at the University of Alabama. He was a loving husband and father. He was “Pop” to his six grandchildren, and while he loved to joke around with them, he always encouraged them to keep God first in their lives. He enjoyed fishing on Lake Tuscaloosa with those he loved, and many feasted on his catch around his and Mary’s table.

Brad is preceded in death by his parents, James and Jane Cicero. He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Mary Tucker Cicero of Northport; his son Jason Hollis Cicero (Amberly) of Clifton, Virginia; his daughter Jillian Cicero Hinely (Johnny) of Franklin, Tennessee; six grandchildren Sarah Cicero Campbell (Matt), Nathan Cicero, Abby Grace Cicero, Tucker Hinely, Jacob
Hinely, and Tristan Hinely; sisters Janie Higginbotham of Warrior, Betty Rogers (Squeeky) of Pleasant Grove, and Rebecca Herring (Mark) of Alabaster; two nephews, and a niece.
