James Robinson Brophy Jr. Northport / James Robinson Brophy Jr. age 78 of Northport died November 1, 2014. A Memorial Service for James and His daughter Vickie who recently passed will be held at 11:00 am on Monday November 24, 2014 at Northport First United Methodist Church with Rev. Mike Spivey and Rev. Jerry Croft officiating. James' ashes will be laid to rest in Montana at a later date. James is preceded in death by his parents , James and Virginia Brophy, brother Robert Brophy, sister Georgia Brophy and his wife of 56 years Nancy Brophy. He is survived by his daughters, Vickie Brophy who passed away November 6, 2014, Julie Lyle, Jennifer Brophy and Jill Jones (Jamie) a son Michael Brophy (Dixie) and beloved grandchildren Kayla and Samantha Lyle, Tyler and Mallory Brophy and Cooper and Crett Jones. James graduated from Michigan College of Mining and Technology in 1957 with a degree in Geological Engineering. While serving as an Officer in the United States Army as First Lieutenant, James and Nancy lived in San Francisco, CA. and Fort Belvoir , VA. After leaving the Army, James worked in the mining industry in Montana, Ohio, Utah, Wyoming and Alabama. James was dearly loved by his family. He was a truly wonderful husband, father ,grandfather and friend to his family. He was dedicated to his family and his wisdom and love will never be forgotton. James will be greatly missed by not only family but by all that knew him. The family would like to express its deepest thanks to the DCH CSICU staff and Hospice of West Alabama for their kind and loving care of our father. In lieu of flowers, the family request donations be made in James' honor to Hospice of West Alabama.
