James Blair

James Robert Blair, Jr. NORTHPORT - James Robert "Jim"� Blair, Jr., of Northport, Ala., went to be with the Lord on Friday, January 20, 2017, following a brief illness. He was 79. Jim was surrounded by family and friends at the time of his passing. Jim was preceded in death by his father, James Robert Blair, Sr.; mother, Dorothy Thrasher Blair; and brother, Dr. William Allen Blair. He is survived by his loving wife, Amy, of fifty seven years and one month; his son, Christopher Brian (Robin), grandchildren, Tyler and Kristen; son, James Robert Blair III; brothers, John Emmet Blair (Kay), Frederick Conrad Blair and Carl Thomas Blair (Suzie); and many nieces and nephews. Jim was a graduate of Fairfield High School and attended Birmingham Southern College. He retired after serving twenty-two years in the military with the United States Coast Guard reaching the rank of Chief Warrant Officer. He was a member of Chapel Hill Baptist Church. A memorial service will be held Monday, January 23, 2017, at 2 p.m., at Magnolia Chapel Funeral Home North. Visitation will be from 12 noon until the time of the service at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that donations be made to Chapel Hill Baptist Church (Build the Hill) The Senior Adult Group or your favorite charity.
