Jack Dent Collins NORTHPORT Jack Dent Collins, age 88, of Northport, died Oct. 7, 2012, at Northport Medical Center-DCH. Services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at Oregonia Baptist Church with Rev. Gary Hill officiating. Burial will follow in Oregonia Baptist Church Cemetery with Magnolia Chapel Funeral Home North directing. Visitation will be tonight from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home. The body will lie in state one hour prior to services at the church. He was preceded in death by his mother, Hazel Burns; his son, Randall Jack "Randy"� Collins, and his daughter, Jackie Carpenson. Survivors include his wife, Nina Bolton Collins of Northport; his son, Clark Collins (Sandra) of Samantha; his daughter-in-law, Janice Brown (Randy) of Tuscaloosa; his grandchildren, Angela Neil (Terry) of Upland, Calif., Kim Smelley (Chris) of Tuscaloosa, Kristi Morrow (Shaun) of Tuscaloosa, and Matt Collins and Zach Collins, both of Samantha; and his great-grandchildren, Sage Smelley, Colby Smelly, Avery Smelley, Maci Morrow, and Mattie Marrow, all of Tuscaloosa. Jack was a lifelong resident of the Northside/Samantha community, a devoted father and wonderful Paw Paw. He coached Dixie Youth Baseball summer programs for many years. Jack enjoyed hunting with friends and family. Jack was employed as terminal manager of Georgia Highway Express and Campbell 66 Freight Companies, Dixie Highway Express, and Tuscaloosa Road and Bridge Department. Pallbearers will be Todd Bolton, Jamie Campbell, Shane Campbell, Donnie Ray Collins, Chris Dunn, Gregg Long, Frankie Milligan, Shaun Morrow, and Chris Smelley. Honorary pallbearers are friends and neighbors of the Northside and Samantha communities. The family would like to extend their gratitude to Amedisys Home Health, friends and family, for their support. In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to the Oregonia Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, 20395 Oregonia Road, Berry, AL 35546.
