Rev. Jack Randolph Brown NORTHPORT Rev. Jack Randolph Brown, age 83, of Northport, passed away peacefully September 12, 2013, at the Birmingham VA Medical Center. Funeral services will be held 3 p.m. today, September 15, 2013, at Carrolls Creek Baptist Church, Hwy 69 N, with Rev. Alan Roggli and Rev. Victor Bonner officiating. Interment will follow at Memory Hill Gardens, Skyland Blvd, Tuscaloosa, with Magnolia Chapel Funeral Home North directing. Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the church. He was preceded in death by his parents, Patton and Elma Brown; brothers, Roy Brown and George Brown; and son, Brett Brown. Survivors include his wife of 59 years, Naomia O. Brown of Northport; his daughter, Beth Brown Sherman of Northport; his daughter-in-law, Tracy Kirkley Brown of Northport; sister, Mabel Gilbert of Warrior; brother, Robert Brown (Shelby) of Tuscaloosa; grandchildren, Rachel Sherman of Dallas, Texas; Jenna Sherman of Medford, Ma, and Lonnie Brown of Northport. Jack was born on July 13, 1930, in Mount Vernon, Ala. At an early age, he moved to Northport and attended Northport Elementary and Tuscaloosa County High School. He attended the University of Alabama, where he earned a BA degree and an MA degree. Jack attended the New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary in New Orleans, La, where he earned a Master of Divinity and Doctor of Ministry degrees. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War. Jack served as pastor of several Southern Baptist Churches in Mississippi and Alabama. For over 12 years, he served as Director of Missions for Dale Baptist Association in Ozark, Ala. After moving back to Northport in 1997, he served as Associate Director of Missions with the Tuscaloosa Baptist Association for 3 years. He joyfully served at the Christian Ministry Center and Good Samaritan Clinic for a number of years. Jack was a member of Carrolls Creek Baptist Church. For over 50 years, he served the Lord faithfully as a minister of the gospel. He loved the Lord with all his heart, mind, soul, and strength. His goal in life was to share the love of Jesus Christ with everyone. In October of 2005, he was honored by receiving the Northport Outstanding Religious Leader Award. Pallbearers will be Kevin Morgan, Leon Winters, Jerry Rogers, Billy Gray, Bill Leow, and Dalton Bobo. Honorary pallbearers are his Carrolls Creek Baptist Church family; Lafoy and Carrolls Creek community; Tuscaloosa Baptist Association; Christian Ministry Center; Good Samaritan Clinic; Tuscaloosa VA Medical Center (Patriots Point); Caring Days; Harold Whitt; Mrs. Ruth Hayden, Sidney Allen; Malcolm Frase; Bill Tidwell; Alton Hamner; Dr. Jeffrey Laubenthal, Lacey Quarles, and office staff. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to: Southern Baptist Convention Home or Foreign Mission Board; Carrolls Creek Baptist Church Building Fund, Christian Ministry Center, Good Samaritan Clinic, Caring Days, Gideon's International, Alzheimer's Foundation, or the charity of one's choice .
