Irene Lallier Townsend

Irene L. Townsend, age 82, of Moundville, Alabama, passed away November 28, 2023, at Hospice of West Alabama. Services will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, December 2, 2023, at Magnolia Chapel North with Bro. Leon Winters officiating. Burial will follow in Goodwater Cemetery with Magnolia Chapel North directing. Visitation will be 10:00 – 11:00 a.m. Saturday at the Magnolia Chapel North.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Albert Lallier and Mae (Perrault) Lallier; husband, William Townsend; brother, Louis Lallier; and daughter, Holly Bagwell.

Survivors include her brother, Martin Lallier; stepdaughter, Rhonda Gilmore (Artie); son-in-law, Anthony Bagwell; grandchildren, Anthony Willmon (Tracy), Zackary Bagwell (Lindsey), Christian Willmon, and Addison Willmon; and great-grandchildren, Brooklin, Graylin, and Ridge Bagwell, and Parker and Crimson Willmon.

Irene was born in Red Lake Falls, Minnesota where she attended Lafayette High School. Irene moved to Alabama in January 1968 to begin working for the Alabama Department of Rehabilitation Services. She continued working there until her retirement in March 2003. After she retired, she loved spending time with friends and family.

Pallbearers will be Zackary Bagwell, Anthony Bagwell, Anthony Willmon, Christian Willmon, Addison Willmon, and Artie Gilmore.

Honorary pallbearers are nurses of TSICU at DCH Regional Medical Center and Hospice of West Alabama.

In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorial donations be made to Hospice of West Alabama.
