Irene Clements Dunn NORTHPORT Irene Clements Dunn, age 89, of Wood Estates Northport, formerly of Windham Springs, Ala., passed away peacefully June 28, 2013, at home. Services were held Sunday, June 30, 2013, in the Chapel of Magnolia Funeral Home North with Brother Terry Joe Oswalt officiating. A private burial followed in Goodwater Cemetery with Magnolia Funeral Home North directing. She was preceded in death by her parents, Sampson and Georgia Clements; 10 siblings, Myrtie Lois, Allen, Edna, Ila Mae, Mannen, D.S., Carl, Betty, Frank, and Ada; her husband of 59 years, Underwood Dunn; son, Larry; daughter, Retha Kay; grandchild, Meredith Kate Ward; and an infant son. She is survived by her daughter, Pamela Dunn Elkins (Butch); daughter-in-law, Betty Dunn; sisters, Christine and Grace; and her very special friend and caregiver, Donna Faye Amerson. Ms. Dunn was born to Sampson and Georgia Clements on October 14, 1923. My mother was the definition of a quite servant of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. She went about meeting the needs of her husband, children, and family, with no need or desire of recognition. She was faithful in her church attendance at Windham Springs Baptist Church, until Alzheimer's took that joy from her. Through the loss of loved ones, her battle with cancer, and finally Alzheimer's, she never lost her faith in or her love for her Lord. Alzheimer's eventually tried to take everything from her, but she refused to give up her faith or fighting spirit. Pallbearers will be nephews, Glen Keene, Eddie Ellis, Winfield Tierce, David Leon Clements, and friends, Dale Evans and Lowell Fields. Thank you to all who have faithfully prayed for my mother over the years. I would like to personally thank caregivers Donna Amerson, Rhonda Crowe, Bernice Hewitt, and all the wonderful Hospice of West Alabama personnel who ministered to my mother, all Wood Estate neighbors, who helped make it possible for her to stay in her home, Jolene Shaw, Denise and Aubry McCarley, Jimmy Jones, Renee Jones, Dr. Keith DeBell, my work family at Northport Medical Center Admissions, and my church family at Windham Springs Baptist Church.
