Henry V. Kelly ECHOLA - Henry V. Kelly, affectionately known as "Granddaddy" of Echola, Ala., peacefully passed away April 4, 2017, at the age of 91. A graveside service will be held in the Dunn's Creek Baptist Church Cemetery, Echola, Ala. at 11 a.m. Saturday, April 8, 2017 with Magnolia Chapel Funeral Home North directing. Buhl Church of God Pastor David Kelly will preside over the service. Visitation will be held Friday, April 7, 2017 from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home. He was preceded in death by his wife of 64 years, Hilma; son, "Jimbo"; parents, Henry and Etta Kelly; and siblings, Troy Kelly, Jesse Kelly, Mamie Jones, Jeanette McDaniel, Grady Kelly and Stella Parker. He is survived by three sons, Ronnie (Joy) of Niceville, Fla., Don (Judy) of Northport, Ala. and Olan of Echola, Ala.; daughter-in-law, Martha Kelly of Coker, Ala.; grandchildren, Ashley McCool (Chris), Erin Jolliff (Matt), Heather Hedrick (Paul), Meredith Wheat (Brian), Will Kelly, and Chase Kelly (Lori); 11 great-grandchildren; sisters, Dean Cloudus and Geneva Pate; brother, Dempsey Kelly; sister-in-law, Joyce Mills; and a host of nieces and nephews. Henry was born and raised in Buhl, Ala. He served in the U.S. Army 66th Infantry Division during WWII in northern France and Germany. He was later employed by the Reichhold Chemical Co. for some 36 years, then following its closing he worked at Lake Lurleen State Park for many years, a job that greatly suited his gentle personality, friendliness and enjoyment of working out of doors. Pallbearers will be Will Kelly, Chase Kelly, Zack Kelly, Paul Hedrick, Matt Jolliff and Brian Wheat. Honorary pallbearers are his friends and neighbors of the Echola community, his caregivers at the Moundville Healthcare & Rehab facility, longtime physician Dr. Gene Alldredge and staff, and his co-workers over the years whose company he enjoyed so much. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that donations be made to the Foundation of West Alabama, Hospice of West Alabama, the Tuscaloosa Veterans Memorial Fund or a charity
