Helon R. Bagwell Mathews Woods TUSCALOOSA | Helon R. Bagwell Mathews Woods, age 97, of Tuscaloosa, died January 7, 2014, at Heritage Health Care. Graveside services will be 11 a.m. Friday, January 10, 2014, at Duncanville Community Cemetery with Rev. Dawson Morrison officiating and Magnolia Chapel Funeral Home South directing. She was preceded in death by her parents, J.W. and Alma Bagwell; husbands, Hobson Mathews and Roy Woods; brothers, M.D. and James Bagwell; sisters, Ruby Patton and Mary Higgins; and sons, Andy and Melvin Mathews. Survivors include her daughters-in-law, Jorene Mathews and Barbara Mathews; sisters, Frances Patterson (Robert) and Sara Capachionne; brother, Robert Bagwell (Freida); grandchildren, David Mathews (Rhonda), Daniel Mathews (Nicole), Victoria Mathews, Lisa Roffers, and Jeff Mathews; and great-grandchildren, Emily and Natalie Roffers. Mrs. Woods loved her Lord and looked forward to seeing Him face to face. January 7th God sent his angels to escort her into glory. The family would like to thank the nurses and staff of Station 2 Heritage Health Care for the love and compassion they have shown our family.
