Services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, October 4, 2014, at United Methodist Church, 410 Boligee St., Eutaw, Ala. with Deborah Born officiating and Magnolia Chapel Funeral Home South directing. Survivors include his daughter, Leatrice Scrivner of Decatur, Ala.; son, Harry M. Abrams of Deatsville, Ala.; sister, Rosemary Potter of Gulfport, Miss.; and grandchildren, Harrison and Heath Abrams of Deatsville, Ala., Wendy Poff of Decatur, Ala. and William Glenn of Fosters, Ala. Harry was a lifetime resident of Eutaw, Ala. and a widower of 15 years. He served in the military as a young man and then went on to retire from Gulf States Paper Mill at age 62. A farmer at heart, he was known for growing watermelons, vegetables and cattle. When he could no longer do these things, you could find him on his front porch reading his Bible and chatting with friends and neighbors. He was a wonderful brother, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. A true southern gentleman who will be greatly missed. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the American Cancer Society.
