Gregory J. "Greg" Sanders COTTONDALE | Gregory J. "Greg" Sanders, age 52, of Cottondale, died September 10, 2014, at home. Services will be 2 p.m. Friday, September 12, 2014, at Magnolia Chapel Funeral Home South with Dr. Herbert Thomas officiating. Burial will follow in Memory Hill Gardens with Magnolia Chapel Funeral Home South directing. Visitation will be two hours prior to services at the funeral home. He was preceded in death by his father, Jessie Sanders; and grandparents, Jeff and Bonnie Sanders, and Grover and Esther Battles. Survivors include his mother, Helen B. Sanders; son, Jared G. Sanders; daughter, Natalie S. Bass (Justin); grandson, Marshall Bass; aunt and uncle, Zelda Parker and Rayford Sanders; special friend, Alice Kemp; and numerous cousins. Greg as a young lad was challenged but with the unconditional love and support of his parents, he excelled in life. He graduated the Class of 1980 of Holt High School and then the Class of 1984 at University of Alabama. He had a successful career as a broker in the freight line industry. Greg enjoyed traveling but also loved baseball, hunting, fishing and Alabama Crimson Tide football. He attended church all his life and served as youth director at Cottondale Methodist. He currently was a member of Circlewood Baptist. Greg adored his children, Jared and Natalie and was proud of their accomplishments in life. Being home bound in recent months, his little canine companion "Allie" was his great comfort. Pallbearers will be Donnie Keene, Randy Keene, Joe Griffin, Jimmy Sanders, Joey Hocutt, Jerry Gafney, Thomas Colburn, Justin Bass, Steve Fowler and Mike Carden. Honorary pallbearers are Tyler Flat Hunting Club, employees of Matson American, UPS, teachers and staff of Woodland Forrest Elementary and Circlewood Baptist Church.
