Grace Park Kirkley
NORTHPORT - Grace Park Kirkley, age 96, of Northport, Ala., died July 20, 2018, at Heritage Health Care. Services will be 11 a.m. Friday, July 27, 2018, at Magnolia Chapel Funeral Home North with Rev. John Drawhorn officiating. Burial will follow in Wesley Chapel Cemetery in Ralph, Ala., with Magnolia Chapel Funeral Home North. Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the church.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Marvin Park, Sr. and Thelma Sealy Park; husband, Jack Daniel Kirkley; and sisters, Loyce Evans and Nell Burroughs.
Survivors include her sons, John Park Kirkley and Daniel Ray Kirkley; sister, Betty Watkins, brothers, Marvin Park, Jr., Mack Park and Sealy Park (Betty); grandchildren, Allison K. Gunter (Chris) and Tracey Kirkley; and great-grandson, Jackson Daniel Gunter.
Grace was born August 6, 1921 in Ralph, Ala. She was raised on a farm and often told stories of life on a farm
Grace was very proud that she and all six of her siblings graduated from Tuscaloosa County High.
Many people in the area wanted one of Grace's famous caramel cakes for their special events. She was a charter member of St. Mark United Methodist Church. Grace sang in the choir until her heath declined in 2014.
Grace's laugh (a Park family (a Park family trait) and her willingness to volunteer for many organizations such as Northport Lions Club, Meals on Wheels and Presbyterian Apartments which made her very popular with the residents of Northport.
Pallbearers will be Chris Gunter, Dr. Earl Hydrick, Roger Williams, Cary Williams, Butch Park and Danny Watkins.
Honorary pallbearers are Heritage Healthcare, members of St. Mark United Methodist Church, Presbyterian Apartments, Linda Rosen, Jean Carlson Lynn Smith, Dr. Richard Shamblin and Burkhalter Jewelers.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to St. Mark UMC Choir Fund of Northport or Wesley Chapel Cemetery Fund of Ralph, Ala.
