DECATUR - Geraldine Hewett Tubb died on Sunday, October 1, 2017 at age 95 in Decatur, Ala. Born in Bessemer; Mrs. Tubb resided in Tuscaloosa for 80 years before moving to Decatur. A graduate of Tuscaloosa High School, she attended the University of Alabama. Her career years were spent with the Tuscaloosa City School System at its Central Office and for 27 years as secretary at University Place Elementary School. Mrs. Tubb was a charter member of Trinity United Methodist Church where she was a lifetime member of the Women's Society of Christian Service, served as a Sunday school teacher and treasurer, and belonged to several of the churches' circles. Her hobbies included biking, walking, reading and history. Her southern style of cooking delighted family and friends. Married 65 years to Jones Luther Tubb, she was the consummate "coaches wife" supporting "Tubbs" through his years of coaching baseball. She is survived by her children Marilyn Myrick (Tucker) of Jacksonville FL, Glynn Tubb (Cathy) of Decatur, Ala., six grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. A celebration of life service for Mrs. Tubb will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, October 4, 2017, at Trinity United Methodist Church. The family will receive friends in the sanctuary one hour prior to the service. Burial will be in Tuscaloosa Memorial Park. Pallbearers include: Stuart Tubb, Jordan Tubb, Hudson McKinney, Grady McKinney, Vaughan Russell, Jr., Arthur Catrino, Edward Lacy, Sr., and Philip Reich. A special tribute and thank you to Dr. Charles Prickett, the staff at Riverside Senior Living, Decatur Home Care and the staff at Hospice of the Valley for their devotion. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Trinity United Methodist Church 729 Paul W. Bryant Drive, Tuscaloosa, AL 35401 or St. John's Episcopal Church 202 Gordon Drive, Decatur, AL. 35601.
