Gene Watkins

Gene Ann Watkins, age 63, of Akron, Ala, died August 17, 2017, at her residence. Services will be 2 p.m. Sunday, August 20, 2017, at Stewart United Methodist Church with Rev. Michael Cobb officiating. Burial will follow in Mesopotamia Cemetery in Eutaw, Ala. with Magnolia Chapel Funeral Home South directing. Visitation will be today, August 19, 2017, from 6 to 8 p.m., at the funeral home. She was preceded in death by her mother, Mary Ann Hale Binion; father, Grover Eugene Binion; and brother, Luther Andrew Mattison. Survivors include her sons, Phillip Watkins, Jr. and Eugene Watkins; brother, Ronald H. Binion; and grandson, Skylar Watkins. Gene was always a very positive and caring person. She loved her church, Stewart United Methodist Church. She was very proud of her children and was especially proud of her grandson, Skylar. Pallbearers will be Mitchell, Eric and Tyler Watkins, Christopher Terry, Hunter and Holden Holmes and Seth McCray. Honorary pallbearers are members of Stewart United Methodist Church, caregiver - Debra Martin and Alacare nurse, Misty Fleenor. Flowers are welcomed or donations in Gene's memory to Stewart United Methodist Church would be appreciated.
