Frank Donald "Tank" Hayes

Frank Donald "Tank" Hayes, age 71 of Brookwood, passed away June 29, 2023. Services will be held on Wednesday, July 5, 2023 at 10:00 am at Magnolia Chapel South with Rev. Alan Cook officiating and Magnolia Chapel South directing. Burial will follow at Antioch Baptist Church Cemetery in Brookwood. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at Magnolia Chapel South.

He is preceded in death by his parents; Cullen and Idelle Hayes, brothers; Lloyd Hayes, infant Gary Hayes, sisters; Christine Humphryes, Jeanette Allen, Jewel Dean Rice and Betty Joyce Odell.

Survivors include his wife Sandra Mathews Hayes, sons; Jason Hayes (Lori), Clint Hayes (Brandy), stepdaughter; Lisa McMillian, sisters; Ola Ree Reach (Commodore), Doris Young (Kenneth), brother; Howard Hayes, grandchildren; Kelcie Hayes, Justin Hayes, Brandon Hayes, Malissa Hayes, step grandchildren; Chandra M. Dorriety (Jimmy), Kayliegh M. Williams (Charlie), Kiersten Pate, Olivia Pate, step greatgrandchildren; Brantlee Dorriety, Lileigh Dorriety, Barrett Williams, and many nieces, nephews and other family members.

Frank was a 1970 graduate of Brookwood High School. He served in the US Army during the Vietnam Era, and was awarded a National Defense Service Medal, Good Conduct Medal and Sharp Shooter (Rifle). He worked as a Coal Minor at Drummond Company and retired after 22 years of service.

Pallbearers will be Justin Hayes, Brandon Hayes, Ron Duren, Roman Duren, Jimmy Dorriety, Brady Oswalt, and Mickey Salerno. Honorary pallbearers are former employees of Drummond Company.
