Frances Odell Freeman Terry, age 85, of Northport, died Oct. 1, 2011, at Hospice of West Alabama. Services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at Magnolia Chapel Funeral Home North with Bro. Bill Richards and David Fletcher officiating. Burial will follow in Memory Hill Gardens with Magnolia Chapel Funeral Home North directing. Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the funeral home. She was preceded in death by her parents, Scott and Odell Freeman; sister, Modie Faye Skelton; and brother, Charles Scott Freeman. Survivors include her loving husband of 65 years, Solon Rufus "Sam" Terry, Jr.; her son, Tony Terry (Tina) and daughter, Nancy Dyer (Danny); her grandsons, Clint, Chase, Justin, and Dakota; her beloved sisters, Beverly Jean Evans and Sara Joyce Lee; and numerous nieces and nephews. Frances was born in Brownville, Ala. and raised in Moores Bridge, Ala. She was the eldest of five siblings. She attended TCHS and married her husband Sam after his tour in the U.S. Navy. She was a homemaker and enjoyed gardening, sewing, and cooking, and worked alongside her husband on their small farm. She was a member of Chapel Hill Baptist Church and taught Sunday school for over 40 years and sang in the choir. She was a loving and devoted wife, caring mother, and grandmother and will be dearly missed by all who knew her. Pallbearers will be Clint Terry, Justin Terry, Chase Dyer, Dakota Dyer, Michael Johnson, and Brett Milligan. Honorary pallbearers are staff of Hospice of West Alabama; Rosemary McCaa; Dr. and Mrs. John O. Waites; Dr. Regina Harrell; friends of Chapel Hill Baptist Church, Englewood Baptist Church, and Rose Blvd. Baptist Church; Senior Ladies' Sunday School Class at CHBC; Tabernacle Baptist Church; and neighbors of Tom Montgomery Rd. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Hospice of West Alabama for the outstanding care given in her last days.
