Frances Holley Medford passed away Tuesday, January 22, 2019 in Sandy Springs, Georgia. She was preceded in death by her husband, Roger Allen Medford, her parents, Robert Cornwell Holley and Clyde Kilgore Holley, and a brother, Robert Calvert Holley.
Mrs. Medford is also survived by a sister, Dorothy Holley Thomson and a brother, John Woodfin Holley (Pat). Also surviving, much loved nieces and nephews, Kathy Holley Parten (Greg), John Woodfin Holley, Jr. (Jan), Robert Paul Holley, Dr. Robert David Thomson, Virginia Thomson Meadows (Lawrence), John Matthew Thomson (Melissa), and Frances Elizabeth Thomson Holliman (Darby). Also, many great nieces and great nephews who loved Aunt Frances.
Frances graduated from Tuscaloosa County High School and the University of Alabama. She worked in the field of medical technology, ending her career at the University of Alabama School of Dentistry in Birmingham.
Frances was also active in the Birmingham Music Club, the Birmingham Museum of Art, the Alpha Delta Pi Alumnae Association, A.A.U.W., and the Senior Learning Classes at UAB.
Frances moved to Sandy Springs, Georgia in 2014 to be near family. She passed away at Huntcliff Summit II after a lengthy illness on January 22, 2019.
Funeral services will be held at the Historic Williamson Cemetery in Northport, Alabama at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, January 26, 2019 for family and close friends with the Rev. Jerry Douglas, retired Presbyterian minister, officiating and Magnolia Chapel Funeral Home of Northport directing.
