Florene Carnley Hicks NORTHPORT Florene Carnley Hicks, age 85, of Northport, died Sept. 10, 2012, at DCH Regional Medical Center. Services will be 10 a.m. Thursday at Magnolia Chapel Funeral Home North with Bro. Ron Wilson officiating. Burial will follow in Tuscaloosa Memorial Park with Magnolia Chapel Funeral Home North directing. Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the funeral home. She was preceded in death by her parents, Howard Lois and Cleo Carnley; her son, Kenneth Kirk Hicks; and her sister, Dorothy Lowe Spinner. Survivors include her husband of 68 years, Cecil Kirkland Hicks of Northport; her daughter, Brenda Ann Hicks Gantt (George) of Andalusia; her son, Steve Jay Hicks of Northport; her grandchildren, Dallas Patton Gantt (Anna), Hannah Maria Merrell (Walt), Myra Deeann Hicks, and Kimberly Beth Hicks; and her great-grandchildren, Christian and Teyha Hicks, Isabella and William Gantt, and Bay, Cape, and Banks Merrell. Mrs. Hicks was born Oct. 12, 1926, in New Brockton, Ala. "Memama" will be greatly missed by her husband and family. She loved her Lord. She was a great cook and loved to have friends and family sit around her table. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Tuscaloosa and a proud member of the West End Club. Pallbearers will be Steve Hicks, Conrad Spiller, Christian Hicks, Walt Merrell, Dallas Gantt, and George Gantt.
