Evie Brown Coker ECHOLA Evie Brown Coker, age 97, of Echola, died Feb. 21, 2013, at Forest Manor Nursing Home. Services will be 2 p.m. today at Dunn's Creek Baptist Church in Echola with Rev. Alfred Banks officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with Magnolia Chapel Funeral Home North directing. Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the church. She was preceded in death by her father, Luther Daniel Brown; her mother, Allie Bell Vaughn Brown; her daughter, Linda Lawson; and her grandson, Mark Coker. Survivors include her sister, Eva Hayes; her sons, Charles Coker (Shirley) and Sonny Coker (Brenda); her daughters, Shirley Hunter (James), Joyce Perkins (Charles), Bonnie Lynn (Elbert), Marilyn Elliott (Bert), and Janice Kincaid (Bill); 16 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; her niece, Sharon Stone; her nephew, Tommy Hayes (Sheila); and her great-nephew, Walt Hayes. She retired from Andrew Knit after many years of service. She was a member of Dunn's Creek Baptist Church and a member of the Senior Adult Ladies Sunday School Class until her death. She loved the Lord, sewing, and gardening, and was a kind, loving mother to her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, and a friend to all who knew her. Pallbearers will be Shane Coker, Shannon Coker, Joey Hunter, Jimmy Hunter, Jason Coker, and Brian Elliott. Honorary pallbearers are Dr. Wilhite and staff of Internal Medicine Associates of Tuscaloosa P.C., Hospice of West Alabama, Merrill Gardens, and Forest Manor.
