It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Eric Stephen Combs, who passed away at home on February 19, 2025, just one day shy of his 59th birthday. Services will be 11:00 a.m. Friday, February 28, 2025, at Magnolia Chapel North with Bro. Bill Reeves officiating. Burial with Military Honors will follow in Bethel Presbyterian Church Cemetery with Magnolia Chapel North directing. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. - 11:00 a.m. Friday, at Magnolia Chapel North.
He was preceded in death by his father, Blair W. Combs, and his sister, Denise M. Combs, both of whom he cherished deeply. Several aunts and uncles, along with both grandmothers and grandfathers, have passed before him, as well as three cousins, all of whom he held dear in his heart.
Survivors include his wife, Joan Campbell of Northport, AL; special fur baby, Bama; son, Stephen Scott Combs of Coker, AL, and stepchildren, Bryant Stephens of Fosters, AL, Caitlyn (Stephens) Feltman of Coker, AL, and Misti Barger of Tuscaloosa, AL; mother, Linda Combs of Northport, AL; siblings: Jeanette Combs of Georgia, Amy Mills of Northport, AL, Mark Combs of Tuscaloosa, AL, and Phillip Combs of Northport, AL.; brother-in-law, Richard Campbell; mother-in-law, Vera Campbell; four grandchildren, who brought immense joy to his life; nephews, Cole Campbell of Northport, AL, Kevin Westover of Georgia and Casey Mills of Northport, AL; as well as nieces, Elodie Westover of Georgia and Sarabeth Mills of Northport, AL; great-nephew, Gavin Westover of GA; many extended family members and friends.
Born on February 20, 1966, Eric was a beloved son, husband, father, brother, and friend whose spirit touched the lives of many. His love and devotion to his wife, son, stepchildren, mother, grandchildren, and extended family will always be remembered. Eric proudly served in the United States Navy, embodying the values of duty, honor, and commitment. His service to our country was a testament to his character and dedication, and he carried pride in being a veteran throughout his life. Eric's warmth, kindness, and great sense of humor will be missed by all who knew him. Since 1994, Eric worked as a Boiler Technician for the University of Alabama, where he was known for his strong work ethic and dedication to his job. His contributions to the university community will be remembered fondly by colleagues and friends alike.
Pallbearers will be Richard Campbell, Cole Campbell, Jed Ralston, Nick Shaw, Mark Bentley, and Tim Palmer.
Honorary pallbearers are all who served in the U.S. Navy with Eric, and employees of The University of Alabama, especially boiler and shop employees.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Wounded Warriors Project https://support.woundedwarriorproject.org/ or a charity of your choice in Eric's name, honoring his legacy of service and love.
Rest in peace, Eric. You will forever be in our hearts.
