Elvey Guel Davis NORTHPORT - Elvey Guel Davis, age 82, of Northport, Ala., died September 30, 2016, at Hospice of West Alabama. Services will be 10 a.m. Monday, October 3, 2016, at Liberty Church, Highway 29 in Hale County, with Bro. Ed King officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with Magnolia Chapel Funeral Home South directing. He was preceded in death by his parents, Werdna and Ruth Davis; brother, Bobby Davis; son, Joseph Michael Davis; first wife, Alice Hester Davis; second wife, June Hinote Davis; and brother-in-law, J.D. McCray. Survivors include his daughters, Robbin Scrivner (Don) and Carol Russell (Mike); sons, Richard Davis, Elvey Davis, Jr. and Ryan Davis (Priscilla); sisters, Odell Montz (Charles) and Elizabeth McCray; nine grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. Elvey "Bud" was born and raised in Moundville, Ala. He graduated from Hale County High School and was a lifetime member of Liberty Church. Bud worked at the Tuscaloosa, Ala., Cole Supply Company for ten years. After 25 years of service as a Deputy Sheriff at the Santa Rosa Sheriff's Office in the state of Florida, he retired. Bud was an avid hunter and fisher. He was loved by his family and will be missed. Honorary pallbearers are Santa Rosa County Sheriff's Office and Hospice of West Alabama. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that donations be made to Liberty Church and Cemetery and Hospice of West Alabama.
