Elaine Hardin

Elaine Sommers Hardin, 82, of Tuscaloosa, Alabama passed away peacefully on May 24, 2020 following a brief illness. She was a native of Baton Rouge, Louisiana and graduated from Baton Rouge High School. During her time, she was a devoted Wife and Mother and served briefly as an Administrative Assistant.

She is survived by her son, Taylor Hardin and wife Marcy; daughter Allison Gage and husband Joe; grandchildren Thomas Lane Hardin, Rose Hardin, Casey Cheyenne Brewer and husband Drew, and Cody Grace Gage. She is also survived by her sister Susan Sommers Behm and husband Dick and brother Tom Sommers and wife Gloria as well as numerous nieces, nephews, relatives and dear friends.

Elaine was preceded in death by her husband Glenn C. Hardin, infant son Gary Lane Hardin; her father Thomas Gilbert Sommers and mother Evelyn Boze Sommers.

Elaine was a loving mother and sister and enjoyed meeting new people and forming friendships. Her move to Tuscaloosa from McKinney, Texas allowed her to be closer to family during the autumn of her life. While in Tuscaloosa she became an active member of St. Mark United Methodist Church where she enjoyed attending services and classes that assisted her in growing in her faith. She especially enjoyed the social lunches with her friends following services there.

Regardless of where she was, she was always able to make a friend and was adeptly talented in always making people feel welcomed and loved. She also had quite the knack for knowing interesting facts about the people that she met. When she engaged in conversation, she had the greatest ability to focus on the individual and make them feel welcomed and loved. She also had a great love of art and watercolor painting. Which she did so well. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends in this life.

There will be a small memorial service later this summer in McKinney, Texas. She will be interred aside her husband in the Columbarium at the First United Methodist Church of McKinney.
