Edna Hardy

Mrs. Edna Hardy, 95, of Montgomery, Alabama, died January 5, 2019. She was formerly a resident of West Greene, Alabama where she had lived for 41 years. Mrs. Hardy was a woman of deep and abiding faith in God. She devoted her life to serving God and serving others throughout her career. Mrs. Hardy worked for Western Union in Tuscaloosa for 30 years, and served as postmaster at West Greene for 36 years. She worked tirelessly to care for her family and to meet the needs of her customers. She retired from the US Postal Service at the age of 90.

Mrs. Hardy was the daughter of Billie and Ruby Sullivan. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Clifton J. Rogers, in 1958 and by her husband of 42 years, Thomas R. (Billy) Hardy, Sr. in 2002. She was also preceded in death by her stepdaughter, Jean Overton and Jean's husband Joe of Northport, as well as their daughter, Teresa Myers. Mrs. Hardy was preceded in death by her parents, her sisters Inez, Louise, Lillie Dean, and Billie Jean, and by her brothers, Troy and James.

She is survived by her daughter, Brenda Smith, and her husband Bob of Montgomery and her stepson, Thomas R. (Bill) Hardy, Jr. and his wife Nan of Northport. She is also survived by her granddaughter, Sarah Young (Matt), her step grandchildren, Nathan Smith, Lisa Champion (Jeff), Randy Overton, Kim Mills, Tim Hardy (Michelle), Lynette Coker (Jason), Ashley Adcox (Lamar), and Keith Ethridge (Staci), and their children and grandchildren. She is survived by one sister, Annie Jane Love, of Corpus Christi, Texas. She is also survived by her much-loved nieces and nephews and their families.

Funeral services for Mrs. Hardy will be held on Wednesday, January 9, 2019, at 2 p.m. at Sardis Methodist Church in West Greene, Alabama. Visitation will be at the church beginning at 1 p.m. Burial at Sardis Cemetery will follow the funeral service. Magnolia Chapel Funeral Home South of Tuscaloosa will be in charge of arrangements.

Friends and family may send flowers or make donations to the Sardis Cemetery Fund or to West Greene Baptist Church.
