Edgar Hobson

Edgar L. "Lonnie"� Hobson Jr., age 67, of Northport, died March 27, 2012, at UAB Hospital. Services will be 2 p.m. Friday at Magnolia Chapel Funeral Home North with Rev. Ben Jameson officiating. Burial will follow in Brent Cemetery with Magnolia Chapel Funeral Home North directing. Visitation will be tonight from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home. He was preceded in death by his parents, Edgar "Lonzo"� Hobson Sr. and Louise Bracknell Hobson, and a niece, Kathy Shoults. Survivors include his wife, Peggy Hobson; a son, Ron Hobson; two daughters, Kim Brown (Darrell) and Melissa Lindsey (Scott); a granddaughter, Rhonda Scott; Terri Pasco Shaw, who he also considered his daughter; grandchildren, Casey Taylor, Cajun Brown, Maggi Brown, Leigha Byrom, Matthew Lindsey, and Jacob Lindsey; great-grandchildren, Fisher Scott and Easton Scott; sisters, Betty Shoults (Freddie), Bobbie Volland (Rick), and Nancy Rinehart (Bob); several nieces and nephews who fondly called him "Uncle Pete"�; and a beloved pet, Fifi. Lonnie was born January 12, 1945, in Brent, Alabama. He was a member of Five Points Baptist Church and retired from B.F. Goodrich Tire Manufacturing Company in Tuscaloosa. Pallbearers will be long time friend, Dudley Williams; nephews, Mike Shoults, Rick Volland, George Volland, and Chad Volland; and family friend, Brian Champion. Honorary pallbearers are Dr. Ross Vaughn of Tuscaloosa and Dr. James Posey of Birmingham.
