Douglas Hardy Wood, 62, beloved husband, father and friend was called home to be with His Lord and Savior on May 25, 2020. He was born on September 10, 1957 in Tuscaloosa, Alabama to Clyde Lee and Elizabeth Grace Hardy Wood. Doug was a graduate of Tuscaloosa County High School, Class of 1975 and attended the University of Alabama. He retired in 2013 from United Parcel Service after 36 years of service.
Doug is celebrating in Heaven with his parents, Clyde and Grace Wood. He is survived by his loving wife of 31 years, Robin Darnell Wood, his cherished daughter, Macy Elizabeth Wood Robinson and son-in-law Josh Robinson, brother, Donald Wood, niece, Mary Hardy Wood and numerous additional family and friends.
Doug truly lived out his faith. He loved Jesus and his family more than anything. Doug was a devoted husband and father, son, brother, uncle and friend, but most importantly, he was a man after God's own heart. His world revolved around his girls, Robin and Macy. He treasured all of his family and his many friendships. Everyone who knew Doug was better for knowing him. He was an avid fan of the Alabama Crimson Tide. Upon his retirement, he thoroughly enjoyed farming, fishing, his cows and caring for all of his pets which he loved dearly. He had the most loving heart and was known for his honesty, character and integrity. Doug never met a stranger, loved to tell stories about "back in the day" and always had a joke ready to tell. We will miss him more than words can express and will celebrate him every day for the rest of our lives, but take comfort in knowing he is now face to face with Jesus.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, May 29, 2020 at 2 pm at Magnolia Chapel Funeral Home in Northport, AL with Rev. John Tanner officiating and burial to follow at Sunset Memorial Park in Northport, AL.
