Douglas Harrison Boatner, age 73 died peacefully in the arms of his wife on June 15,2023 at Hospice of West Alabama in Tuscaloosa, Al after a courageous battle here on earth.
Services will be held on Tuesday, June 20, 2023 at Magnolia Chapel South at 11:00 am. Burial will follow in Magnolia Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the funeral home one hour prior to the service.
Doug was born on January 30, 1950, in Bessemer, AL to Doug Sr and Lilly Ruth Boatner. He worked at Frito Lay for 23 years before he retired in May 2010. Doug was married to the love of his life our mother Patricia for 31 years at the time of his death. They were married in 1992 on the 16th of December and they had the most amazing love between them that us children could see and feel.
Doug is survived by his wife Patricia and their 5 children, 11 grandkids and 4 great grandkids as well as his brother James Boatner. Their children are Tabatha (Chris) Reece, Ken (Jennifer) Boatner, Tracy (Mike) Pittsenbarger, Paula (Josh) Holcumb, Chris Boatner.
Pawpaw’s grandkids are Kristopher (Missy) Boatner, Nathaniel (Jessie) Fields, Clayton “CJ” Fields, Calli Fields, Dalton (Caitlin) Herring, Patricia “Tess” Wilson, Colton Boatner, Abbey Boatner, Clayton Albert, Peyton Albert and Bella Albert.
Pawpaw’s Great Grandbabies Kingston Fields, Ayden Herring,Braxton Wilson, Gabriel “Gabe” Wilson.
Doug is preceded in death by Doug Sr Boatner (Father), Lilly Ruth Boatner (Mother), Paul Boatner (brother)
Doug was a wonderful husband, daddy and pawpaw. He enjoyed every moment he could spend with his family making memories that will be carried on for a lifetime. God gained an amazing man that was truly loved by all.
Pallbearers will be Chris Reece, Jeff Albert, Nathaniel Fields,Dalton Herring, Colton Boatner, Jeremy Boatner. James Boatner wants to honor his brother by walking the final walk with his brother to his final resting place.
