Dorothy “Dot” Dean Reynolds McCray, age 89 of Moundville, Alabama, passed away peacefully on January 2, 2021 at Moundville Nursing Home. A graveside service will be held on January 5, 2021 at Oak Hill Cemetery at 11:00 AM. Reverend Jason Duckett will be officiating the service. Magnolia Chapel South will be directing the funeral.

She is preceded in death by her husband; Ernest Paul McCray; parents; Elton and Alice Reynolds, siblings; J. T. Reynolds, and; son Terry Eugene McCray.

She is survived by her Siblings; James Reynolds, Donald Reynolds (Judy); sons; Richard Scott McCray (Lana), Gary Robin McCray (Tabatha), grandchildren; Brandon Scott McCray (Mary Beth), Robert Michael McCray, Katherine Elizabeth McCray.

Dorothy was a long-time member of Moundville Baptist Church, where she served as the church Secretary for years. She retired from the University of Alabama where she worked at the office of Reproduction for several years. Dorothy was born in Bruce, Mississippi and lived there until moving to Bessemer Alabama where she met Paul McCray, spending several years as a military spouse traveling to many locations throughout the United States, as he served in the U.S. Navy and U.S. Air Force until his retirement in 1969. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother for which she was known as Meme. She will be greatly missed by those that knew her and love her.


In Lieu of flowers the family request donations be made to Moundville Baptist Church Building Fund.
