DORIS JANE YEAGER
AKRON - Doris Jane Yeager, age 69, of Akron, Ala., died March 7, 2018, at Moundville Health & Rehab. Graveside services will be 2 p.m. Monday, March 12, 2018, at Tanner Methodist Church Cemetery with Leon McCafferty officiating and Magnolia Chapel Funeral Home South directing. Visitation will be Friday, March 9, 2018, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
She was preceded in death by her father, Count Henry Brown; mother, Willie Blanche Baker/Peden; and brothers, John Henry Brown, Jr., Jimmy Wayne Brown and Carter Reynolds Brown.
Survivors include her husband, George Michael Yeager of Akron, Ala.; daughters, Sonia Renee Kellom of Tuscaloosa, Ala and LeeAnn Baker of Montgomery, Ala.; son, Christopher Cornelius Lott (Shannon Lott) of Houston, Texas; grandchildren, Jessica Wilder, Blake Baker, Matthew Kellom, Jasmine Kellom, Juliana Lott, William Lott and Jonathan Lott; and great-grandchildren, Brandon Wilder and Samantha Wilder.
Doris Yeager was born on September 27, 1948 in Tanner, Alabama. In her early years, she loved singing in a traveling gospel group. She served honorably in the U.S. Army. She worked at the University of Alabama in early childhood development, as a substitute teacher for Hale County School System and World-Wide Educational Tours up until she retired. She loved attending country music's Fan Fair, Elvis Presley and researching her family's genealogy. She loved and spoiled her grandchildren whenever possible.
Pallbearers will be Matthew Kellom, Blake Baker, Jeffrey Woods, Billy Blackwood, Josh Vanschoiack, Dan Adams, Barry Nails and Michael Brown.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Association (alz.org).
