Donnie Gene was born January 13, 1955 to Frances and Charlie Haywood in Richlands, Virginia. He was one of six siblings. He graduated from Richards High School and immediately joined the United States Army, serving 20 years, in which twelve he spent in Germany. He was proud of his military career and to serve his country. The life he had and enjoyed included hunting and fishing with his brothers and his son, they had many wonderful days until his failing health prevented him from enjoying his passion. Although his passion was hunting and fishing his greatest joy was his only granddaughter Addison, the time spent in small conversation as a child and her Paw-Paw was such a joy to him. Donnie's grandmother was a full blooded Cherokee Indian and in his adulthood he supported St. Joseph's Indian School, for his love and care for the children learning.
Pallbearers will be family.
