Donald Bruce Green Sr. NORTHPORT | Donald Bruce Green Sr., age 84, of Northport, died Friday, May 13, 2016, at the Valor Center in the Tuscaloosa VA. Services will be at Magnolia Chapel Funeral Home North, in Northport, Ala. Open Viewing is scheduled for May 17, 2016, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Funeral services will be May 18, 2016, at 11:00 a.m. followed immediately by a graveside service with full Military Honors at Sunset Cemetery. He is preceded in death by his parents, Charles Bruce Green and Katherine Mildred Green; by his wife, Emily Nell Green, of 54 1/2 years; and his brother Charles Calvin Green. Survivors include his son, Donald Bruce Green Jr. and his wife Gina; granddaughter, Eliana; and sister, Carolyn Elizabeth Deering. Don attended the University of Alabama and was a member of the "Million Dollar Band" before joining the Army. He spent 30 years in the United States Army and 3 years in the Army National Guard serving his country and protecting our freedom. His service included war time service during The Korean War, Vietnam and several tours overseas to Japan and to Germany. He retired with a full honorable discharge in 1980. After his military service he spent numerous years working for Rite Aid before his full retirement. Later, he enjoyed spending time with his family that he loved. He loved his wife Emily his whole life and loved the Lord. He frequently visited The University Band to watch them and Crimsonettes practice. He loved Alabama football and had a passion for life that radiated from within. Pallbearers will be Tony O'Rourke, Allen Whinery, Chris Ammen, Doug Quilliams and Ken Schuman. Honorary pallbearers are Lee A. Hallman, Jeff Brown, Dr. Tyler Dale Stracener, BS, MD., Tuscaloosa VA Valor Center Rehabilitation Staff, VFW Members, American Legion Members and members of Trinity United Methodist Church.
