Dennis Wayne Koehn

Dennis Wayne Koehn was born to Herman and Martha Koehn at Chickasha, Oklahoma on October 1, 1953. He peacefully passed away surrounded by family and friends at UAB Hospital in Birmingham due to complications from back surgery.

Dad had a happy childhood growing up with one sister and seven brothers. He received his education at Pioneer School. He gave his heart to the Lord and was baptized on January 17, 1968 by Min. Glenn Nightingale. Though dad had struggles and sometimes failed, we believe he surrendered it all and we shall see him in Heaven someday.

On January 2, 1976, dad was married to Martha D. Koehn at Transylvania, Louisiana by Min. Verle Johnson. Our parents shared forty-nine years together. Two daughters, Heather and Heidi and one son, Shawn were born into their home. They started out life together in Lake Providence, Louisiana where he made a living moving dirt with some of his brothers. They traveled to many jobs together making wonderful memories . He also did some carpentry work for his brother, Delmar. In May of 1988, they moved to Faunsdale where they built fishponds and started his on catfish farm and built the family home. We have so many wonderful memories living the farm life. He treasured family time and Bible reading, especially Psalm 23 was very dear to him. He was good at inventing and fixing things around the farm. In May of 2017 dad was able to retire, then he enjoyed bird watching, coloring, and bike riding. He loved to play Sorry with his grandchildren and will be greatly missed.

His survivors include his wife, Martha and three children; Heather and Ben Warkentin, Basin, Wyoming; Heidi and Trenton Penner, Newbern, Alabama; Shawn and Shawna Koehn, Guntersville, Alabama; one heart daughter Anita and Doyle Wiebe, Almena, Wisconsin; two brothers; Jerald and Linda Koehn, Halstead, Kansas, Gene and Linda Koehn, Leland, Mississippi, also close friends Tommy Stapleton and Glen Wenger and seven precious grandchildren each of whom held a special place in his heart.

He is preceded in death by both parents, parents-in-law, stepmother, one sister, five brothers, and one infant grandson.
