Deloris Itra Glover, age 93, of Tuscaloosa, passed away peacefully at Hunter Creek Health and Rehab on Monday, May 29, 2017. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, June 1, at Magnolia Chapel Funeral Home South with the Reverend Terry Lolly officiating and Magnolia Chapel directing. Visitation will be held one prior to the service beginning at 1 p.m.; burial will follow in the Cottondale Perpetual Cemetery. Itra was preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, Reverend William R. Glover; daughter, Patsy Cooley; parents, Alford and Estel Franklin; brothers, David, Delyeen, James Darvan, Alvie, and Bob Franklin; and sisters, Leora and Ottie Mae Franklin. Survivors include four children: Sue Wise (Howard) of Savannah, Ga., Larry Glover (Kay) of Tuscaloosa, Deloris Burroughs (Richard) of Tuscaloosa, and Donia Jones (Steve) of Tuscaloosa, and sister, Sue Jones (Grady), of Shannon, AL. Survivors also include ten grandchildren: Michael Shelton (Violet), Jenifer Williams, Chriss McClendon (James), Lynn Bauer (Jim), Rebecca Williams, Bradley Burroughs, Jeremy Burroughs, Brian Burroughs, Jeremiah Jones (Laura), Joshua Jones (Akiko); eighteen great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. Itra was born September 26, 1923 in north Tuscaloosa county. She graduated valedictorian at Windham Springs High School and was a lifetime resident of Tuscaloosa and Hale Counties. She enjoyed gardening and cooking and taught home demonstration in the community. She loved fishing and traveling and was a self-taught artist. One of Itra"�s greatest joys came in assisting her husband, "Brother Bill,"� in his calling as a pastor and later as superintendent of missions in Hale County. In addition to serving as the secretary for the Hale County Baptist Association, she was active in the Concord Baptist Women"�s Missionary Union (WMU) and led the Girl"�s Auxiliary (GA"�s) and the Sunbeams; she also served several years as principle for the Vacation Bible School. Itra was a faithful member of Big Sandy Baptist church. Pallbearers will be Michael Shelton, Haydon Shelton, Colby Shelton, Andrew Glover Williams, Brandon Williams, Jeremy Burroughs, Jeremiah Jones and Joshua Jones. Honorary pallbearers are employees of Hunter Creek and Hospice of West Alabama. In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to the Franklin Graham Evangelistic Association, the Jimmie Hale Mission or Hospice of West Alabama.
