David (D.G.) Elliott, Jr.
Tuscaloosa} David (D.G.) Elliott, Jr., age 94 of Tuscaloosa, died April 27, 2018 at DCH Regional Medical Center. Services will be held on Monday April 30, 2018 at 2:00 pm at Magnolia Chapel South, Rev.Melody Traylor and Dr. Kevin Thomas will officiate. Burial will follow in Oakhill Cemetery, Moundville. Visitation will be 12:30 to 2:00 pm prior to service at Magnolia Funeral Home South.
He was preceded in death by his parents Grady and Belle Elliott, sisters Virginia Belle Elliott and Roberta E. Jenkins, and Brother Clarence M. Elliott.
Survivors include his wife Dot Elliott of 66 years, Brother Wallace (Carolyn), several nieces and nephews and several great nieces and nephews. D.G. was born in Moundville, Alabama on June 12, 1923. He graduated from Hale County High School and was a Navy Veteran of WWII serving on the USS Quincy and the USS Franklin D. Roosevelt. He began his banking career with the Bank of Moundville in 1946, leaving there as President to join the First National Bank of Tuskaloosa/Amsouth where he served as Vice President and retired in 1987. He was involved in many civic organizations, as Treasurer of the Tuscaloosa County Heart Association, YMCA, United Fund, The Tuscaloosa County Cattlemen's Association, Chamber of Commerce, and Selective Service Board. He attended courses of the Tuscaloosa Chapter of American Institute of Banking. He was an active member of Forest Lake United Methodist Church where he served on the Administrative Board and Finance Committee.
He and Dot traveled extensively, attending the Navy reunions annually for over 40 years.
Pallbearers are nephews; Johnny Elliott, Scott Elliott, Bob Martin, Mike Whitehead, Gary Bridges, Lin Moore , Tom Boock, Warren Boock, and Chase Elliott.
Honorary pallbearers are Dr. George Hemstreet, former employees of First National Bank of Tuskaloosa/Amsouth, and members of Forest Lake United Methodist Church.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Forest Lake United Methodist Church or to the charity of one's choice.
