DUNCANVILLE Consolata Tunnell, age 96, of Duncanville, departed this life on Monday, January 27, 2025, at home. Services will be 11 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 30, 2025, at Duncanville Methodist Church with Pastors Billy Skelton and Matt Weems officiating. Burial will follow in the Duncanville Community Cemetery with Magnolia Chapel Funeral Home South directing.
Mrs. Tunnell was preceded in death by her husband, LG Tunnell; parents, Camillo and Assunta Michelizza; her sisters Alina Truett and Giulia Mlekus and her brothers, Remo, Romolo, Valerio, and Lino.
Survivors include her daughter, Belinda Medders (Dan) of Duncanville; her son, Larry Tunnell (Nancy) of Orlando, Fla.; her sister, Anna Maria Lazar; her brother, Guido Michelizza (Maria); her grandchildren, Malia Richardson (Tray) of Millbrook, Greg Tunnell (Katie) of Orlando, Fla., Matt Medders (Anran) of Duncanville, and Mary Wilson of Parker, Colorado; and her great-grandchildren, Logan and Ezra Wilson, Emilia and Thomas Richardson, and Landon Tunnell.
Mrs. Tunnell met and married her true and only love, LG, in Italy while he was serving with the U.S. Army during World War II.
Consolata was a devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. For years, she helped operated Tunnell's Grocery in Duncanville.
She attended Duncanville United Methodist Church since the early 1960's. Mrs. Tunnell enjoyed working with her flowers and garden, crocheting colorful afghan blankets, and spending time with her grandchildren. She was always concerned for the wellbeing of family and friends.
Pallbearers will be her grandsons, Greg Tunnell, Matt Medders, and Tray Richardson, and her nephews, Jimmy and Marlon Cook and Mike, Donald, and Lewis Tunnell. Honorary pallbearers are members of Duncanville Methodist Church.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Duncanville Methodist Church, P.O. Box 225, Duncanville, AL 35456.
She is happily in the arms of God and united with her beloved LG.
