Cleatus Clifton Box NORTHPORT Cleatus Clifton Box, age 92, of Northport, died Sept. 15, 2012, at Glen Haven Health & Rehab. Services will be 12 noon Tuesday at Carrolls Creek Baptist Church with Bro. Alan Roggli, Bro. C.W. Box, and Bro. Don Springer officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with Magnolia Chapel Funeral Home North directing. Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the church. He was preceded in death by his father, Lester Box; his mother, Lula Bell Box; sisters, Verla Wright and Vaudine Miles; brother, Cleburn Box; and his constant companion, "Lucky Dog."� Survivors include his wife, Kathleen Box of Northport; daughters, Patsy Hamner and Peggy Brodi of Northport; sisters, Verna McDonald of Fayette and Verta Box of Guin; brothers, C.W. Box (Sarah Cathrine) of Winfield, Clovis Box (Bulah) of Northport, and Clyde Box (Linda) of Moody; grandchildren, Kimberly Carruth (John Dee), Marty Hallman (Susan), Christina Sullivan (Scott), Steve Hallman (Jennifer), and JuliAnna Swiney (Sam); 11 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. Cleatus was born in Fayette, Ala., where he learned to farm at an early age. He married Kate and moved her and his two young daughters to Nauvoo, where he continued his love of farming. In 1953, he moved his family to Northport, where he worked at the Central Foundry and The University of Alabama. However, he continued farming with his 1951 Farmall tractor even in his last year. He loved his family, church, and community, and in return was loved and respected by many. He will be missed. Pallbearers will be his great-grandsons, Jesse Hallman, Haden Hallman, Brody Dailey, Thad Hallman, and Tristan Hallman; and nephews, Wayne Miles and Gary Box. Honorary pallbearers are his numerous nephews, Jacob Little, Cleatus Little, Wilford Calhoun, John Hugh Calhoun, Bill Tidwell, Bro. Don Springer, Dr. Leonard Jones, the staff at Glen Haven Rehabilitation Center, friends and neighbors of the Carrolls Creek community and church, and Alacare Home Health and Hospice.
