Charles Ray

Charles Ray, age 81 of Northport, passed away October 27, 2023 at home. Services will be held on Wednesday, November 1, 2023 at 2:00 pm at Magnolia Chapel North with Bro. Jerry Skinner officiating and Magnolia Chapel North directing. Burial will follow at Memory Hill Gardens. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

He is preceded in death by his father, George Alfred Ray; Mother, Edna Long Ray and wife, Shirley James Ray.

Survivors include his daughters: Connie Ray Stokes (John), Kimberly Ray Satcher (Mark), and step-daughter, Michelle McDaniel, sister: Mary Ellen Guin (Morris), brother: James Alex Ray (Ruby), grandchildren: Zachary Stokes (Brook), Mary Margaret Stokes Faust (Bobby), Harold Stokes, Gill Satcher, and Meredith Satcher, great-grandchildren: Clark Stokes, Ford Stokes, Amelia Faust and numerous nieces, nephews and extended family.

Charles was raised in the community of Samantha, Alabama and was in the first graduating class of Northside Highschool. From a very early age, he always enjoyed driving anything from- tractors, 18 wheelers, fire trucks, to his beloved John Deere lawn mower. He and his wife, Shirley, were charter members of Valley View Baptist Church and made many fond memories traveling with their church family. In later years, they also enjoyed attending Rose Boulevard Baptist Church in Northport. The family wants to recognize and thank Carolyn McKanstry for taking such good care of Daddy the last few years. As much as we will miss him here on Earth, we hope he is eating an ice cream sandwich and drinking a Diet Coke with Shirley in Heaven.

Pallbearers will be Zach Stokes, Harry Stokes, Gill Satcher, Bobby Faust, David Ray, Steven Ray, Jonathan Ray, Mark Guin and Scott Derrick.
