Charles was born on June 4, 1943 in McIIlwain, Tennessee. He graduated from Holladay, Tennessee in 1961 with a class of 18 seniors.
He came to Alabama in 1969 as plant superintendent for Hardy Sand Company. He was only 26 years old when he moved his family to Tuscaloosa, Alabama. Later, he worked for Southern Heat Exchange before moving to Johnson City, Tennessee to manage a sand plant there. He came back to Tuscaloosa, Alabama in 1985 when he married his wife, Margaret, and went to work for S.T. Bunn Construction Company where he remained until his passing.
Charles held dear to his heart his family, especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren, his church family and his many friends.
He was always the life of the party and he never missed the opportunity to tell a good joke. He was very dedicated to his church and rarely missed a service or Wednesday night meal and prayer meeting. The last approximately ten years as a member of Circlewood Baptist church, you could see a change in Charles as he became a faithful servant of the Lord. He valued prayer and the power of it, and he firmly believed in the gift of mercy and grace.
Charles and Margaret loved to travel and were blessed to be able to make many trips in his much loved motor homes. They enjoyed numerous cruises and road trips. He loved spending time on the river cruising up and down on his pontoon boat with family and friends. He loved motorcycles and old cars. Charles could converse with anyone on that subject. He was a great man of many talents and he will forever be missed by all who knew him.
Charles said "God is Great".
