Charles Lindburgh (Linden) Mitchell, age 88, passed away on Sunday, June 19, 2016, at Hospice of West Alabama in Tuscaloosa. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, June 22, 2016, at 2:00 p.m. at Mt. Hermon United Methodist Church in Greensboro. Visitation will be at 1:00 p.m. at the church. Services will be conducted by Brother Ray Hallman. Mr. Mitchell graduated from Greensboro High School and later married Ernestine Broughton. He served in the US Army, and was a retired dairy/cattle/catfish farmer in Greensboro and also retired from Gulf States Paper Corporation in Demopolis. Mr. Mitchell served as Sunday School teacher, Deacon and Elder at the First Presbyterian Church in Greensboro. In later years, he was active in the Mt. Hermon United Methodist Church. He is proceeded in death by his parents, Arie P. and Thomas A. Mitchell; his sisters: Ozeal Bohannon, Ora Casaday and Ila Burchfield; his brothers: Felton Mitchell, Curtis Mitchell, Wallace Mitchell and Harold Mitchell. Mr. Mitchell is survived by his wife of 66 years, Ernestine Mitchell; Children: Linda Turner (Russell), Joyce Clements (Phillip), Larry Mitchell (Memie) and Judy Wheatley (Kenneth). Grandchildren: Seth Turner (Millie), Rita T. Cain (Josh), Sammy Clements (Christy), Bradley Clements (Whitney), Brian Mitchell (Wendy), Miriam Mitchell, and Catherine Wheatley. Great-grandchildren: Quinn Turner, Jensen Cain, Alex Clements, Jackson Clements, Jacob Clements, Madilyn Clements, Joni Mitchell, Sadie Mitchell. Sister, Lila Clark; Brother, John Mitchell (Frances); Sisters-in-law: Lucille Mitchell, Sue Whaley and Eloise Bonds. As well as numerous nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be grandsons and sons-in-law. Honorary Pallbearers: Greensboro Presbyterian Church members, Mt. Hermon Methodist Church members, Susan and Greg Hamrick, the entire Hamrick Highlands staff and family, Dr. Mary Ellen Cole.
