Charles Bennie Hester TUSCALOOSA | Charles Bennie Hester, age 83, of Tuscaloosa, Ala., died May 12, 2015, one day shy of his 84th birthday at the VA Medical Center in Tuscaloosa. Visitation will be at 1 p.m. Friday May 15, 2015 at Magnolia Chapel Funeral Home South, Tuscaloosa, and the chapel service will follow at 2 p.m. with Reverend Larry Bonner officiating. Burial will follow at Memory Hill Gardens, Tuscaloosa. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Inez Boyd Hester; brother, Thomas Hester; sisters, Nell Hester West, Ann Hester Wyatt, sisters-in-law, Maurene Hester, Mary Lou Boyd Falls, Dawn Boyd and a host of nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by parents, Joseph (Bud) and Vera Hester; brothers, Rufus Hester, Winston Hester; sisters, Ruby Massey, Valta Rogers, Mable Pitts, Mary Johnston and Alice Davis. Born May 13, 1931 to Joseph and Vera Hester of Moundville, Charles Bennie, a resident of Tuscaloosa, was born and raised in Moundville and until his death enjoyed Moundville High School football, visiting the Moundville Methodist Church and the Moundville community. Charles Bennie served in the United States Air Force and was a long time employee of Coca-Cola Bottling Company. He was very passionate about University of Alabama football, basketball and baseball attending many games over the years and enjoying football tailgates with family and friends. If there were no games for him to attend you could find him in his back yard cooking and hosting many family and friends by the pool. Pallbearers will be Jeb Green, Robert Hodges, Ricky Boyd, Michael Boyd, Jimmy Swindle, Jr., and Phillip Yarbrough. Honorary Pallbearers are Employees of Veterans Hospital 61 West, Coca-Cola Bottling, Herman Judah, Shelton State Community College, Peterson community, Moundville community, Nancy Sellers, Lee and Bobby Ballenger and family, Jean Green, Mickey and Rhonda Benton, Carol Hennesey and John, Raiford Foley and family, neighbors of Hodge Circle, Annie Lou and Charles Herron, Bill Clark, Winston Owens, Morris and Bonnie Terry, Sarah and Gordon Wilson, Carolyn Morris, Dr. Ross Vaughn, and Tuscaloosa Internal Medicine.
