Charles Flanner "Charley" Ballard Jr. TUSCALOOSA | Charles Flanner "Charley" Ballard, Jr., age 56, of Tuscaloosa, died November 28, 2014, at home. Services will be 1 p.m. Monday, December 1, 2014, at Magnolia Chapel Funeral Home South with Rev. Jimmy Garner and Rev. Gary Hill officiating. Burial will follow in Magnolia Chapel Cemetery with Magnolia Chapel Funeral Home South directing. Visitation will be Sunday, November 30, 2014 from 5 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Naomi and Willie Ballard and Jerry Brewer. Survivors include his wife, Amanda Ferguson Ballard; daughter, April Coleman (Bryan); son, Charles Flanner (Trae) Ballard III (Rebecca); sister, Lydia Fields (Danny); parents, Charles Flanner Ballard, Sr. (Carol) and Betty Brewer Jones (Zane); grandmother, Mildred Brewer; nieces, Missy Meagan Fields and Macy Fields and Katie Ferguson; and nephew, Hunter Ferguson. Charley was born October 5, 1958 to two proud parents, Charles and Betty. In 1960, Lydia his sister and lifelong best friend was born. He grew up in Arlington among dear and lifelong friends. In 1977 he graduated from Tuscaloosa High School (The Black Bears). In 1981 his daughter April was joined by his son Trae. Trae and his dad have been inseparable since birth. In 2008, he met the love of his life and married her (Amanda) in 2013. Charley worked in the dental field for several years before going to work at the City of Tuscaloosa (DOT). He loved the outdoors where he enjoyed both hunting and fishing. Pallbearers will be Victor Ryan, Tim Ryan, George Ferguson, Bryan Coleman, David Lawrence, George Beck and Rich Taylor. Honorary pallbearers are City of Tuscaloosa employees, Dollar General employees, Tuscaloosa Dental Arts employees, Reston Construction employees, Ballard Contractors employees, Tuscaloosa Fire Department employees and Bama Sam's Camping Club.
