Caroline (Goodwin) Egan, age 89, of Cottondale, Alabama, passed away on September 26, 2022. Visitation will be 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. Thursday, September 29, 2022, at the Magnolia Chapel North. Services will be 1:00 p.m. Friday, September 30, 2022, at Magnolia Chapel North with Rev. Emmett Smith officiating. Burial will follow in Memory Hill Gardens with Magnolia Chapel North officiating.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Rev. Phillip L. Egan; father, Huey Goodwin; mother, Nettie Goodwin; sisters, Nettie Lee Barbour and Lou Ella Jett; grandson, Rafael Barrientos; and son-in-law, Theron Beard.
Survivors include Phylis Egan, Sylvia Jordan, and Rebeca Barrientos (Reggie); son, Philip Egan (Stephanie); grandchildren, Kendall Jordan (Jennifer), Brian Jordan, Rouvel Barrientos (Hailey), Raquel Barrientos (Alan), Rebekah Barrientos, Owen Egan, and Atticus Egan; and great-grandchildren, Alena and Enslie "Ghost" Barrientos, and Victoria, Lily and Mary Jordan.
Caroline Egan was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, pastor’s wife and friend . She made all of her family and friends feel important.
Caroline Egan was born in Green Pond, AL, on October 9, 1932 to Huey and Nettie Goodwin. She had two sisters, Nettie Lee Barbour and Lou Ella Jett. She lived in McCalla most of her childhood and graduated from Brookwood High School. Caroline Egan lived for Jesus from a young age and went to Apostolic Bible College in St. Paul, Minnesota, where she met her husband, Phillip Egan. They married in 1953 and started pastoring churches in Alabama. In 1956, God called them to start the First United Pentecostal Church in Tuscaloosa. They pastored there for almost 64 years. She was a powerful prayer warrior, great Sunday School teacher, counselor, and friend. She played the piano for services and sang beautiful songs. Heaven has gained a wonderful angel!
Pallbearers will be Kendall Jordan, Brian Jordan, Reggie Barrientos, Raquel Barrientos, Rebekah Barrientos, and Alan Lightsey.
Honorary pallbearers are members of First United Pentecostal Church in Tuscaloosa, Alabama.
