Carol C. Leavelle, age 51, of Moundville, died Aug. 24, 2012, at Hospice of West Alabama. Services will be 11 a.m. Monday at New Hope Baptist Church in Hale County with Rev. Arthur Thomas and Rev. Conrad Baggott officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with Magnolia Chapel Funeral Home South directing. Visitation will be tonight from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home. The body will lie in state 30 minutes prior to services at the church. She was preceded in death by her father, Oliver W. Cook; her niece, DeShay Hardy Harless; and her nephew, Tyler Cook. Survivors include her husband, Kenny Leavelle; her daughter, Tracy Leavelle Day (Raymond); her son, Brandon Leavelle (Angela); her sister, Sue Hardy (Horace); her brothers, Wade Cook (Sara), Kenneth Cook (Paula), and Darrell Cook (Sibyle); her mother, Willa Dean Cook; and her sister-in-law, Gloria Summerville. Mrs. Leavelle was born May 12, 1961. She was a member of New Hope Baptist Church since childhood. She was dedicated to her job at Merchants and Farmers Bank in Eutaw where she worked for 22 years. She loved her coworkers and customers. Her legacy as a devoted and loving wife, mother, daughter, and sister will always be treasured by her family. Pallbearers will be nephews Brad Cook, Christopher Cook, Kevin Cook, Lawson Cook, DaWayne Hardy, Lee Leavelle Jr., and James Summerville. Honorary pallbearers are the staff of Cancer Care Center of Tuscaloosa, Dr. Pamela Hughes, Dr. Shelby Sanford, staff of MICU of DCH Regional Medical Center, Dr. Keith DeBell, Dr. Gary Newsom, and coworkers of Merchants and Farmers Bank, In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the American Cancer Society and Hospice of West Alabama.
