Carl Stripling

Carl “Buddy” Elwood Stripling, age 83, of Northport, Alabama, passed away May 25, 2024 at DCH Regional Medical Center. Services will be 2:00 p.m. Thursday, May 30, 2024, at Arbor Springs Baptist Church with Bro. Mike Griffin officiating. Burial will follow in Spring Hill Cemetery at 18321 Spring Hill Church Rd, Fayette, AL 35555, with Magnolia Chapel North directing. Visitation will be one hour prior to services at Arbor Springs Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Jonas and Mamie Stripling; two wives, Yoko Stripling and Cherry Stripling; and siblings and their spouses, JW and Bessie Mae Stripling, Eulene and Levoid Jones, Lorene and James Stephens, Leonard and Autence Stripling, Sidney and Jean Stripling, Doris and Charles Cummings, and Ed and Faye Stripling.

Survivors include his sister, Ellen Kizzire (Luard); brother, Glendon Stripling (Jane); stepdaughters and their families, Stephanie Richey (Jonathan) and sons, Jon Douglas and Ben Richey; Dana Dailey (Ronnie Bellamy); and Leah Jones (Carl) and children, GeRoy and Ivy Jones; and a host of nephews and nieces.

Buddy was a 1978 graduate of The University of Alabama. He was a veteran of the United States Navy and retired from the Tuscaloosa VA Medical Center. Buddy was a longtime member of Arbor Springs Baptist Church where he served as a deacon and a Sunday School teacher for many years.

Pallbearers will be Gene Oswalt, Mickey Joe Freeman, Jon Finley, Mike Ham, Ronnie Bellamy, and Jonathan Richey.

Honorary pallbearers are the Senior Adult Sunday School Class at Arbor Springs, and friends and caregivers at The Crossings at North River Memory Care.
