Brian Glankler

David Brian Glankler, age 65, of Tuscaloosa, Ala., formerly of Woodstock, Ga., passed away suddenly on January 18, 2025. He was born in the 50’s in East Point, Ga., son of “The Greatest Generation” parents, John L. Glankler, Jr. and Anne Belsha Glankler.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and his brother, John L. Glankler, III. He was also preceded in death by his beloved dogs, Murdock and Cody; and cat, Jake.

He is survived by his wife, true love, best friend, and constant companion, Kimberly T. Glankler; sister, Michele Jarrell (Randy); brother, João Luiz Damato (Daniela) of Brazil; and many nieces, nephews, and other family members.

He was a graduate of Headland High School, Class of 1977, The University of Georgia, Class of 1981, receiving a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology; The University of Alabama, Class of 1984 with a Master of Arts in Counselor Education/Student Personnel.

Brian joined Kennesaw State University (KSU) in 1985. In Brian’s 30 years with KSU, he was internationally recognized as one of the top academic advisors in the country. He held leadership roles in the National Academic Advising Association (NACADA), regional and state advising organization. Brian and his program were honored by NACADA as the Advising Program of the Year. He has been the recipient of the Student Organization Advisor of the Year award, the George Beggs Award for his work with students and the very prestigious Kennesaw State University Administrator of the Year award.

Brian and Kim loved spending time together on Lake Allatoona, taking motorcycle trips and extensive travel all over the world. He loved attending Georgia Bulldog football and Alabama football games, playing golf, ALTA tennis, competitive black powder shooting, and crossword puzzles.

Brian and Kim would not seek any monetary memorials in his name. Instead, they would request that you keep laughter in your heart and a sense of humor always.
